Nick Visser is Senior Software Engineer at IDES. That means he does everything from database software architecture and design and development, to never-ending changes to various web pages. He also consults with IDES’ sales team and clients to propose solutions to business problems. Nick is a firm believer in the power of abstraction and generalization to solve concrete problems. If you ask him nicely, he will tell you what he means by that.
Nick holds an MS in Mathematics from the University of Wyoming, and joined IDES in 1998. He rides his bike to work. Nick enjoys spending time with his wife and two sons, especially doing all kinds of cool things that are only possible in a small town in the mountain west. When he is not solving problems at work, or busy with home-life, he likes to spend time biking, hiking, skiing, and taking trips to amazing places. His is a busy life, but that keeps it from getting boring.
Nick has a lot to say (for a “quiet person”). At work, he often says things like “tell me the problem, not the solution.” At home, he often says things like “if you put the boys to bed, I will do the dishes.” |
