Comtuf 425 by A. Schulman Inc. is a PBT (Polybutylene Terephthalate) plastic material with filler: Glass Fiber Reinforcement, 40%.
General Information
Product Description

This Polyester grade exhibits excellent chemical resistance, thermal stability and dimensional stability. U.V. and color stability can be achieved by utilizing appropriate stabilizers. Polyesters can be mixed with flame retardants, PTFE, polysilicone oxide and graphite. Polyesters can accept melt mixing, and can be reinforced with a variety of fillers and fibers.

Polyesters are moisture sensitive and, before any melt process, must be dried to moisture content of less than 0.04%. If immersed in water, polyesters absorb less than 0.2%; therefore, short or long term mechanical properties are not significantly affected by the amount of moisture uptake.

Some additional start-up conditions for processing of glass fiber reinforced PBT suggest maximum and medium pressures on injection and hold, respectively, along with a slow screw speed.
