DOW Wire Cable DFDA-5488 NT by Dow Plastics is a LDPE (Polyethylene, Low Density) plastic material.
General Information
Product Description

DFDA-5488 NT is a fast-crosslinking catalyst masterbatch for use with DFDB-5451 NT ethylene-silane copolymer. DFDA-5488 NT is formulated with EEA copolymer, and will soon be made available under the trademark SI-LINK™ AC DFDA-5488 Natural Crosslinkable Polyethylene.
Because the catalyst masterbatch is shipped separately from the silane-modified polyethylene, the components are very shelf-stable. Crosslinking of the insulation system only occurs after hot melt mixing of the two components and exposure to moisture and temperature. DFDA-5488 NT provides excellent scorch resistance when mixed with DFDB-5451 NT.
DFDA-5488 NT includes sufficient antioxidant so that the system provides satisfactory processing and product performance stabilization. The system is designed to be effective either for copper or aluminum conductors.
The recommended level of usage for DFDA-5488 NT is 5% by weight. The specific level will depend on the process and conditions used. For your particular application, contact your Dow representative for recommended levels.
