Product Description

Crosslinkable Silane-Ethylene Copolymer for Power Cable Insulation

DFDB-5451 NT is a developmental silane-ethylene copolymer developed for use in power cable and control cable applications up to 1 kV. DFDB-5451 NT will soon be made available commercially under the trademark SI-LINK™ AC DFDB-5451 Natural crosslinkable polyethylene. DFDB-5451 NT may be crosslinked after it is extruded with DFDA-5488 NT catalyst masterbatch by allowing moisture to diffuse into the insulation. If a black product is required, the addition of DFDB-5410 BK carbon black masterbatch to DFDB-5451 NT and DFDA-5488 NT is recommended.

Because the catalyst and carbon black masterbatches are shipped separately from the DFDB-5451 NT, the components are very shelf-stable. Crosslinking of the total system occurs after hot melt mixing of the components and exposure to moisture and temperature.

Specifications
When DFDB-5451 NT is crosslinked with DFDA-5488 NT, and optionally, DFDB-5410 BK, it should meet typical 1 kV or less low voltage specifications such as those in:

- IEC: 60502-1
