Visico LE4481/LE4476 - Borealis - Ethylene n-Butyl Acrylate Copolymer Plastic

Visico LE4481/LE4476 by Borealis A/S is a EnBA (Ethylene n-Butyl Acrylate Copolymer) plastic material.

The base material Visico™ LE4481 in combination with the catalyst masterbatch Ambicat™ LE4476 will accelerate the moisture-induced crosslinking reaction. The system is highly active and crosslinks quickly at ambient conditions, in a sauna or hot water.
The base material, Visico™LE4481, is based upon a low density poly-ethylen-butyl-acrylate-vinyl-silane terpolymer. The terpolymerisation process results in a moisture curable polymer having excellent storage stability and without any volatiles. Visico™ LE4481 contains a permanent scortch retardant additive, which ensures safe processing and gives a possibility to use a highly active crosslinking catalyst.
The catalyst masterbatch, Ambicat™ LE4476, contains a novel, patented, environmentally friendly crosslinking catalyst and is completely free from heavy metals. Compared to the traditional tin-based catalyst it gives outstanding curing rates, processing characteristics, excellent surface finish and no or little die drool. Additionally Ambicat™ LE4476 contains antioxidant, metaldeactivator and a drying agent. Ambicat™ LE4476 must not be dried prior to extrusion.
When properly mixed, addition of 5 parts of Ambicat™ LE4476 to 95 parts of Visico™ LE4481, insulation with excellent thermo-oxidative stability, also in contact with copper as well as aluminium, is achieved.
Visico™ LE4481 and Ambicat™ LE4476 is designed for flexible insulation of low voltage wiring, power and industrial cables for the range up to 6 kV.
