Product Description
Articles made of Biomer resins are produced from renewable resources
Renewable feedstock meet the criteria of sustainable response. In addition they do not add to the CO² concentration in the atmosphere. Potential clients identify products with these properties as "This is what industry should do" or "It helps solve environmental problems" or "Responsible care".

Articles made of Biomer resins are waterproof
Biomer resins are inert towards water, even after extended exposure. Thus articles can be produced which come into contact with water. They also are fairly resistant towards fats and oils. Thus articles made of Biomer resins protect sensitive products against moisture and oily soilings.

Articles made of Biomer resins have attractive surfaces
Injection molded products made of certain Biomer formulations have a shiny surface. Thus optically attractive products can be created.

Articles made of Biomer materials can be autoclaved
Articles made of PHB thermoplasts retain their original shape at 121°C or 132°C. Because of this perishable goods can be canned into packages produced of Biomer resins and preserved by steam sterilization.

Articles made of Biomer materials are toxicologically safe
The monomer as well as the polymer are natural components and metabolites of human cells. They are not toxic even at high concentrations. Thus Biomer formulations can be used for articles which come into contact with skin, feed or food (registration for food contact in progress).

Articles made of Biomer materials are fully biodegradable
In composts where nitrogen and phosphates are abundant, articles made with Biomer resins are taken up by bacteria and fungi as nutrient. No toxic byproducts are accumulated. Under optimal conditions thin walled injection molded articles are composted within 2 months. Therefore articles made with Biomer resins can be disposed of with ordinary kitchen wastes. Without composting conditions they remain intact for years (cf. remarks on biodegradation).

Properties of the resins
  • can be processed as classic thermoplasts
  • biodegradable
  • waterproof
  • only small tendency to creep
  • behaves similar to LPC's in the melt, for this:
* finest surfaces
* thin walls
* microparts
  • free from even traces of catalysts!
  • highly crystalline (60 to 70%), for this:
  • excellent resistance to solvents
  • temperature of use: -30 to 120°C
  • shrinkage: 1,3 %
