Mowital® BG 60 H Kuraray Polyvinyl Butyral

Product Description

Thanks to its good melting behaviour and conveying ability, Mowital BG is ideal particularly for use in thermoplastic processing procedures. Mowital BG can be processed by injection moulding as well as by classical extrusion procedures.

Mowital BG can be used as single component or also as an additive. In contrast to many standard plastics, it also has high water absorbing capacity. The polarity of the polyvinyl butyral can be adjusted specifically by modifying the degree of acetalization. At the same time, this allows for specific modification of the characteristics of the material.

The glass transition temperature of the Mowital BG types decreases with increasing content of the acetal groups and decreasing degree of polymerization. Values between 60 °C and 73 °C are measured for the individual types. The melting range starts with the low-viscous types at about 130 °C and ends with the high-viscous types at approx. 220 °C.

Mouldings produced from Mowital BG can be sealed. In addition, Mowital is absolutely harmless to the health so that it is simply ideal for use in food packaging.
