Product Description
DuPont™ Biomax® PTT 1100 resin can help reduce your packaging footprint on the environment while also offering superior aesthetics and resistance to most formulations.

Plastics made from petrochemicals deliver high performance in packaging, but use depletable petroleum resources as their primary feedstock. DuPont™ Biomax® PTT is a solution to provide high-performance plastic packaging made from partially renewable feedstocks.

Biomax® PTT 1100 contains up to 37% renewably sourced content by weight and injection molds similarly to PBT.

Environmental value proposition:
  • Partially renewably-sourced material solution which contributes positively to decreasing greenhouse gas emissions over a product life cycle
  • Regrind can be reused in standard in-plant processes

Performance attributes:
  • Glossy surface to provide attractive aesthetics
  • Excellent resistance to common personal care & cosmetic formulations
  • Good colorability
  • Naturally opaque to translucent
  • High strength

DuPont™ Biomax® PTT is a unique polymer based on 1,3 bio-propanediol, a monomer originating from common agricultural sources, such as corn or sugar beets.

Fast Facts:
  • Bio processes offer a lower environmental footprint than petrochemical processes.
  • Bio-PDO™, the primary monomer in Biomax® PTT, consumes 40% less energy than chemical PDO.

Uncoated Biomax® PTT 1100 provides superior mar & scratch resistance when compared to common alternatives.

Biomax® PTT provides superior stiffness and scratch resistance vs. other plastics used in cosmetic molding applications being only surpassed by PMMA. In contrast to the latter it also shows outstanding resistance to many cosmetic formulations.
