MAXXAM FR PO Concentrate 61 is designated to impart good flame retardancy to low and high density polyethylene.Because there are so many varieties of polyethylene, it is difficult to predict the let-down ratio required to meet the specific flammability standards. For starting point formulations we would suggest:4-7 parts by weight of Low Density Polyethylene-,5 parts by weight of High Density Polyethylene-to 1 part of Concentrate 61. When this concentrate is letdown at the proper ratio the resulting materials can achieve flame retardancy equivalent to the requirements of the UL-94 V-2 or VTM-2. The effects on the physicals should be minimal.
