Gas Assisted Injection Molding of High Gloss Large Plastic Parts
Gas assisted injection molding allows for the production
of long rod-shaped parts with thick cross sections. On
aesthetic parts, a high gloss level is a main
requirement in some markets, like appliances. New
plastic materials have been developed for increasing
the gloss level and to achieve the desired appearance
right out of the mold. This paper exposes polyester
resins as a way to get high gloss in smooth large
parts, which are commonly used in oven handles.
