IDES Introduces The Plastics Graveyard™ Report
New report tracks resin manufacturer and plastic material product name changes,
including extinct suppliers and grades.
(May They Rest in Peace)
LARAMIE, Wyo. – April 28, 2006 – IDES Inc. introduced today The Plastics Graveyard™, a report that tracks historical changes of plastic materials and manufacturers. The report helps resin buyers locate offset grades for materials that no longer exist, have been replaced or absorbed by other resin manufacturing companies. The report also tracks changes for companies that no longer exist, have changed their name, or have been purchased or merged with other resin supplier companies.
“About a year ago, design engineers and resin buyers began contacting IDES for help to learn which companies could supply plastic materials that were no longer commercially available. That’s when we had the idea to dig into historical data from our Prospector plastics search engine. We have literally been archiving this information for the past 20 years,” said Mike Kmetz, President of IDES. “We were able to cultivate information from more than 60,000 plastic materials and organize the data in The Plastics Graveyard™ report. Our intention is to share new information on our publicly available website every time there are market changes to minimize supply chain disruptions for plastics professionals.”
Unlike most graveyards, The Plastics Graveyard™ is open 24 hours a day.
