CLEVELAND, June 5 /PRNewswire/ -- PolyOne Corporation launched today its new online tool, Product Alternative Search, which enables processors and designers to search PolyOne Distribution's product database for alternative product options.
PolyOne's Product Alternative Search combines search and comparison technology developed by IDES Incorporated with PolyOne's extensive product offerings that include polymeric resins and compounds from more than 20 suppliers. The tool will enable designers and processors to identify and compare alternative polymer solutions. Users can find performance or cost- based alternatives for resins they currently use or are familiar with.
"Speed to market is more important than ever before, and our new online tool helps customers quickly identify alternative polymer solutions when it is most convenient for them," said Michael Rademacher, senior vice president and general manager, PolyOne Distribution. "Once selected, our expansive distribution network makes sure they receive the product when they need it."
Users are instantly granted free access to search for alternative product solutions by product name, generic symbol, or manufacturer after completing a very simple, one-time registration. Product Alternative Search considers common physical and mechanical material property attributes and takes qualitative descriptions of product features -- such as chemical resistance, toxicity, agency ratings and fillers -- into account.
Possible product alternatives are ranked in order of compatibility and include detailed data such as product name, manufacturer/supplier, material family/resin type, melt mass-flow rate, notched izod impact, flex modulus, tensile strength and data sheets. Users can evaluate final search results in a side-by-side comparison. If additional information is needed, users can submit an e-mail request directly from the search results page, or contact a PolyOne Distribution sales representative.
