ROCHESTER, IL (February 18, 2008) -- Elastocon TPE Technologies, Inc. announces the appointment of Shannon Industrial Corporation of Woodstock, IL as their distributor of thermoplastic elastomers (TPEs). The Shannon sales and service network covers a 17 state area in the mid-western portion of the U.S.

Elastocon offers TPE compounds as well as concentrates sold under the Elastocon name. Shannon Industrial Corp. has been a leading distributor of commodity and engineering resins since 1965 and boasts a 65,000 square foot distribution facility, 6 large silos for resin storage and a location that can accommodate as many as 40 rail cars. In addition to a large sales force, the Shannon operation has a technical service department along with custom blending capabilities.

According to David Barkus, Elastocon spokesperson, “This new relationship with Shannon Industrial will greatly benefit TPE users throughout the mid-western region by providing them with a large team of skilled technical representatives. Their personalized sales approach combined with their high level of technical expertise, nicely complements our approach to business and customers. With these extra personnel covering this wide 17 state area, Elastocon can quickly and expertly provide ideal formulations for their TPE needs.” TPEs from Elastocon are sold worldwide.

Company spokesman for Shannon Industrial, George Kurz, General Manager at the firm’s Woodstock, IL facility (near Chicago’s O’Hare International airport), notes, “Adding Elastocon TPE compounds and concentrates to our product mix will provide another dimension to our ability to answer our customer’s needs for one of today’s most popular and versatile polymer products. At the present time, Elastocon offers the 2800 and 8000/9000 Series of TPEs, as well as TPOs (thermoplastic olefins) and alloys, all of which can be injection molded, extruded, thermoformed, blow molded or compounded. Elastocon thermoplastic elastomers do not require drying and are offered for applications that require rubber-like properties, impact resistance, colorability, a good surface finish, easy proccessability, reduced material usage and numerous other features and benefits. All Elastocon TPE grades are free from latex, and are RoHS and California Proposition 65 compliant, as well as UL and NSF approvable, and are suitable for medical applications. Elastocon can provide ISO reporting for manufacturing and shipping. All grades are reclaimable and recyclable.
