FLORHAM PARK, NJ, March 7, 2008 -- BASF will increase prices for Polyamide
6 polymer by $0.10 per pound, or as contracts allow, effective March 14, 2008. This increase covers PA6 polymer for spinning, film and wire and cable applications, neat resin for compounding, as well as PA6,66 copolymers.
“We continue to experience volatility of raw material and energy costs,”
said Mark Dobson, business director of BASF’s Polyamide and Intermediates business in North America. “Besides the usual oil and benzene tracking, BASF closely watches all raw materials, including ammonia and sulfur, which have had unprecedented increases over the past three months. Despite these challenges, we prudently increase our pricing structure to minimize the impact to our customers. The attached chart depicts the instability we face on a daily basis to balance our margins.”
