 BASF to Increase Pricing for Ultramid® PA6 and PA6.6, Nypel® Recycled PA6, and Ultradur® PBT

WYANDOTTE, MI, March 11, 2008 -- BASF will increase prices in its engineering resins product line in North America, effective March 24, 2008, or as contracts permit, for all shipments.

The specific increases for North America are as follows:

  • Ultramid® PA6 and PA66 nylon resins*: $0.15/lb
  • Nypel® recycled PA6 nylon resins: $0.15/lb
  • Ultradur® PBT resins*: $0.10/lb

“For a very long time we have been pressured with petrochemical raw material price escalation at unprecedented rates, said Joseph Keine, director of Sales, Engineering Plastics, at BASF. “This year, a fundamental shift in agricultural chemicals, such as ammonia and sulfur, has compounded pricing structures. BASF remains committed to the plastics industry and our focus is on long-term sustainable growth. We continue to develop our product portfolio ensuring our customers the best material and design solutions specifically suited for their applications,” continued Keine.

* This includes all grades previously known as Capron®, Celanese®, Latamid®, Later®, Latiblend®, Latilub®, Toramid®, Kelon®, Lastil®, or Latan®.
