Additional 68,000 metric tons of Polyamide 66 manufactured

ST. LOUIS - April 17, 2008 – To meet rising global demand for polyamide 66, Solutia Inc. has increased the production of its Vydyne® and Ascend® PA66 products by 68,000 metric tons in 2008.

“The latest capacity increase, our third since August 2006, demonstrates our continuing commitment to the global PA66 markets,” says Jonathon Wright, senior vice president of Solutia Inc. and president of Integrated Nylon, “The worldwide demand for nylon products is increasing steadily, and Solutia intends to remain on the forefront of that growth as one of the world’s largest integrated manufacturers of PA66.”

This most recent production expansion of Solutia’s PA66 products is the third in a series of growth phases that were announced in 2006. That same year, Solutia increased production capacity of its Vydyne and Ascend products by 32,000 metric tons. In the second phase, Solutia increased production by 40,000 metric tons. In total, these three phases account for an increase of 140,000 metric tons.

Vydyne PA66™ resins and compounds are used primarily in injection molding and extrusion applications in the automotive, consumer, electrical and electronic and industrial markets. Ascend PA66 polymers are used primarily in the textile, carpet and industrial fiber markets.
