WILMINGTON, Del., June 4, 2008 – DuPont Engineering Polymers announces a $0.20/lb structural price adjustment for all DuPont nylon standard resins and higher price adjustments for specialty resins in the Americas effective July 1, 2008, or as contracts permit.
"DuPont Engineering Polymers has launched a number of aggressive cost-cutting and consolidated global operating strategies to help absorb raw material increases, but those efforts are not enough to cover the increases we are seeing day after day,” said Keith J. Smith, vice president and general manager – DuPont Engineering Polymers. “The unpredictability of energy and raw material costs continues to plague even the most responsible businesses and it is imperative for DuPont Engineering Polymers, being firmly committed to operating a long-term sustainable business strategy, to offset some of these staggering cost increases by implementing this structural price adjustment.”
This adjustment is in addition to the increase DuPont Engineering Polymers announced April 9 and reflects extraordinary escalation in costs for raw materials derived from oil and natural gas over the past several weeks, as well as continued acceleration of energy, transportation and logistics costs.
