Wyandotte, MI – June 25, 2008 – BASF today announced the introduction of its new Ultramid® BG50XFI PA6 (polyamide) for use in large, thin walled injection molding applications that require UV (ultraviolet) fade resistant custom colors, impact resistance, and a high gloss surface. Ultramid® BG50XFI is a natural fit for the lawn and garden market where many OEM manufacturers’ brands are known by their color. Ultramid BG50XFI not only helps in their brand recognition, but also provides manufacturing and processing enhancements over PC/PBT alloys and painted steel.

Ultramid BG50XFI is an impact modified PA6 (polyamide) material designed for injection molding applications where good flow and processability are required. The material provides higher impact performance than that of conventional polyamide 6 materials, while maintaining good strength, stiffness and resistance to chemicals and fuels. This material is available in natural and pigmented versions and can be combined with a UV stabilizer package to support the needs of OEMs in lawn-garden and consumer applications.
