San Jose, Calif. – Sept. 10, 2008 – Visitors to BIOMEDevice 2008, a medical device and biopharmaceutical conference and expo, can see first-hand the technically advanced materials Bayer MaterialScience LLC (BMS) has to offer the medical device industry at its booth, #901. The second annual BIOMEDevice show, which takes place Sept. 10-11 at the McEnery Convention Center in San Jose, Calif., provides a platform for BMS to showcase its materials for many healthcare industry applications.

At its booth, BMS will feature its latest offerings in developmental areas – from antimicrobial technology to Fantasia® color and special effect technology – that medical device manufacturers have come to rely on to take innovative ideas from concept to reality. BMS’ proven medical device experience provides OEMs with technically advanced materials that can help meet the critical design, manufacturing and end-use performance parameters of a variety of applications.

"With 40 years of proven reliability supplying high-performance polymers for medical devices, we want to apply our expertise to applications in the emerging bio-medical market," said Kevin Dunay, BMS medical & consumer market segment leader. “We strive to provide OEMs solutions with our quality materials, technical expertise, and regulatory support.”

BMS offers a broad product portfolio for the healthcare industry. BMS’ high-performance polymers for medical devices and healthcare applications include Makrolon® polycarbonate resin, Apec® high-heat polycarbonate, Bayblend® and Makroblend® polycarbonate blends, and Texin® thermoplastic polyurethane. These medical grades meet FDA-Modified ISO 10993, Part 1 testing requirements. Specialty medical grades include lipid resistant, high-productivity and radiation-stabilized applications. BMS also offers development hydrophilic polyurethane coatings, which impart lubricity and durable protection to medical devices.
