Korea – November 17, 2008 – PolyMirae Company Ltd, one of the nation’s largest polypropylene manufacturers, has focused on establishing a safe workplace since the company’s formation and pleasant environment in the ‘no-accident workplace’ and it has achieved 3,000 days of no-accidents as of November 17, 2008.
Achieving 3,000 days of no accidents in a large scale petrochemical plants does not merely mean eradicating deaths and closed factories, but indicates that all risk factors that may occur in all process or production, storage, wrapping and shipping are discovered early and resolved in order to prevent industrial disasters.
PolyMirae has pursued various safety activities in order to create a safe workplace and accident-free business place. When taking a brief look at the contents, the following safety activities were pursued in order to achieve 3,000 accident-free days: one-point risk assessment training in the production site, risk factors and continued improvement activities discovered through case analyses, matured STOP card activities (corrective actions for unstable activities), monthly safety campaigns, regular safety inspections through experts, weekly safety patrol activities and other safety activities.
Meanwhile, SJ Suh, the chief officer of the Yeosu district office for the Gwangju Labor Office sent a congratulant message to PolyMirae stating that PolyMirae achieved 3,000 days of no accidents even in the very risky petrochemical industry and asked that all employees continued to strive to maintain this accident-free workplace.
"PolyMirae has continued its accident-free plant for 3,000 days, making it one of only three plants in the Yeocheon Industrial Complex to do so. This not only provides a safe place of work for employees, but it also provides a stable supply of materials to create a firm base for reliability to clients. This shows that the company's corporate competitiveness has reached a very high level," stated JH Lee, plant manager of PolyMirae.
