Last time we talked a bit about 'What is RoHS?' It seems compliance is a hot topic these days.

This time our first topic relates to CARB and EPA permeation and evaporation standards.

Warmest wishes & Happy Holidays,
The IDES Prospector X5 Team

1. Materials That Exceed CARB & EPA Permeation & Evaporation Standards

Equipment regulated by CARB and EPA standards in the Hand-Held and Small Off Road Engines (SORE) category ranges from lawn mowers, trimmers and leaf blowers to the likes of ATVs, lawn tractors and generators. These standards make it challenging to select materials that are CARB compliant and exceed your demanding cold temperature impact requirements.

BASF has grades of Ultramid® Nylon appropriate for your current tooling and preferred processing methods: Injection Molding, Monolayer or Multi-Layer Blow Molding, and Rotational Molding.

View the BASF materials that can help you with CARB & EPA compliance.

2. Online Tools & Webinars from BASF

BASF currently has a full suite of online tools including Flow Length Calculator, Snap-Fit Design Calculator and Cost Calculator.

Continuing their commitment to help molders and design engineers, they plan to release a Cylce Time Estimator in early 2006.

What other online tools would help you with your job?

Webinars

BASF offers an online Plastics Education Center that includes a series of live, interactive, Web-based seminars focused on the design, processing and performance of the BASF Engineering Plastics line of engineered thermoplastics.

Directory of Plastics Processors

Thousands of plastics OEM's utilize IDES services. In fact, 46 of the top 50 OEMs that design with plastic material rely on us.*

Due to increased demand from these OEM's to connect with the right Molder to process their applications, we're constructing a searchable Directory of Plastics Processors.
