Need a Plastic Material with More Hydrolysis and Chemical Resistance?

New Ultradur® HR (Hydrolysis Resistant) PBT and Ultradur® HR + NaOH (Sodium Hydroxide) Resistant PBT.

Plastic Material with More Resistance

The new Ultradur® HR (Hydrolysis Resistant) PBT grades are designed for applications that demand mechanical property retention, during exposure to high heat and humidity.

These grades are laser weldable for easier component assembly and have higher flow properties delivering measurable processing benefits over standard PBT grades.

Find out more about BASF's Ultradur® B4300 G6 HR and Ultradur® B4330 G6 HR.

Nylon 6 Used in New Scaffold System

Nylon 6 material integrates design, performance and impact requirements in new scaffold system.

BASF's Engineering Plastics business in North America has collaborated with Bothwell Plank System for a new, innovative scaffold plank compatible with existing frame and bracing in the global scaffold industry. The new scaffold plank system is an alternative to wood, steel and aluminum planks.

Find out more about how BASF’s proprietary nylon 6 resin provides the improved strength and impact necessary for the end connector and locking pin to be re-used time after time.

Water Assist Injection Molding (WAIM) features and benefits

Similar to gas-assisted molding for coring out thick sections, Water Assist Injection Molding has advantages such as faster cooling, which translates into better cycle time.

Typical applications being considered are; oil filler tubes, coolant tubes and appliance handles.

With this process, water is used to core out the hollow sections, then flows through the part to cool the plastic. Unlike the gas injection process, cooling is provided from the exterior of the part by the tooling and from the interior channel by the water - so cooling cycle times can be reduced to up to 50% that of traditional gas assist.

Water assist injection molding is well-suited for the following types of potential applications - automotive components such as handles, roof rails, and fluid handling tubes; office furniture components; appliance handles; and other structural components.

Learn more by visiting the PlasticsPortal or by attending a presentation on the features and benefits of WAIM at the upcoming Plast-Ex show, May 1-3, 2007, in Toronto, Canada.
