Prospector Resin Blend
January 23, 2008

To follow on our previous newsletter where we introduced the new SABIC Innovative Plastics, formerly GE Plastics, to you we'd like to take this opportunity to highlight some of their products that may help you achieve your sustainable design goals.

SABIC itself has a legacy of optimizing the use of natural resources, having been founded to convert the natural gas associated with oil extraction into high value products rather than burning it. SABIC Innovative Plastics hopes to build upon this tradition with some of the products we feature below.

Also, we invite you to signup for their newsletter and reserve your seat for their eSeminar on sustainable products.

Warmest wishes,
The IDES Team

Don’t Just Recycle – UPCYCLE!

SABIC Innovative Plastic’s Valox iQ* and Xenoy iQ* resins provide a comprehensive solution to customers who are looking for materials with lower carbon footprint or high post consumer content while also meeting tough engineering requirements. The cradle-to-gate carbon footprint of these product lines have been significantly reduced through the post-consumer upcycle production processes, while meeting the same specifications of standard PBT and PC/PBT offsets.

Sabic Innovative Plastic’s Valox iQ* and Xenoy iQ* Resins

In addition, Valox iQ* and Xenoy iQ* resins incorporate our latest value-add features such as Super High Flow, non-halogenated flame retardants, and high modulus ductile (HMD) technologies. They provide you with a cost effective means to meet customer and OEM’s environmental objectives, while providing the full engineering performance you expect.

If your customers are interested in sustainability+performance, Valox iQ* and Xenoy iQ* resins can provide you with a competitive advantage.

ECO

One of today's hottest market trends identifies the need for "green" material solutions. The challenge is that "green" means something different to each of you, our customers. For example "green" materials may represent biobased, recyclable, high post-consumer content, and RoHS complaint depending upon your point of view.

SABIC-IP can provide you with many potential material options to satisfy both your "green" definitions and your application performance requirements.

Lexan* Sheet and Film

Lexan* Constant Clear

Lexan* Constant Clear anti-fog film is a patent pending coated polycarbonate film with an adhesive backing for use in display case refrigeration units such as those found in grocery and convenience stores. As a result of it’s anti fog properties, Lexan* Constant Clear film may help increase sales by offering a clear view of the merchandise in the case and can result in energy savings by eliminating the need to heat the glass doors and by reducing the amount of time the doors are kept open. The film is a great solution for the longer clearing times that are associated with low and no heat doors or that may result with the move to low heat LED lighting. It can also be printed on for in-store branding and promotions.

Lexan* anti-fog film was originally used in sport goggles and has been used in that application for several years. Other applications for Lexan* anti-fog film include industrial goggles, mirrors, windows, gauges and lenses. The film is abrasion and chemically resistant, impact resistant, optically clear and printable.
