For plastic processors, purging is an essential part of the cleaning process. Done properly, purging should effectively displace the resident resin, eliminate the resident resin in dead spots or negative flow areas, remove heat sensitive resins, additives and pigments (which are susceptible to degradation), and eliminate black specks produced by carbon build-up. Below, you'll find a webinar, white papers and case studies on purging with in-house resins vs. commercial purging compounds.

Purging with In-House Resins vs Commercial Purging Compounds

|
Recently, an independent study was commissioned to determine the effectiveness of using common in-house resins for purging versus commercial purging compounds. The comprehensive trial was conducted by Diamond Polymers, a A2LA fully accredited lab facility. The results from the trial can be found here:
IDES Webinar
This 30 minute recorded webinar includes an in-depth review of purging from black to white using PP and HDPE vs Dyna-Purge M, a commercial purging compound. The webinar also includes a series of technical questions and help tips discussed with processors.
White Paper
This report covers all four purging trials (PP, HDPE, PC and ABS) and quantifies the specific “cost-to-purge” values associated with using an in-house resin for purging vs Dyna-Purge, a commercial purging compound. |
Cincinnati Milacron Recommends Dyna-Purge® for Use in Their Injection Molding Equipment

|
Since purging plastics processing machinery is critical for everyday cleaning and as preventive maintenance, Cincinnati Milacron recently tested Dyna-Purge M and Dyna-Purge K to evaluate the suitability of these engineered purging compounds for use on its equipment. Using only 6.5lbs of Dyna-Purge, followed by 1 lb. of virgin polypropylene to completely clean the machine, the subsequent first part was considered good.
