Easy-Flow Plastic Delights Designers: Ultradur® High Speed

MYTO chair made from BASF Ultradur® High Speed PBT

The MYTO chair is made entirely of Ultradur® High Speed PBT (polybutylene terephthalate) and will be available in seven colors. The BASF technical team was critical in developing CAD models and finite element analysis to assure the chair would pass the required loading tests. High Speed Ultradur was able to meet the needs of manufacturing for fast cycle time and the design requirements which included thin walled and complex sections with long flow lengths.

Extending the Use of Ultramid A Into Higher Temperature Applications

Ultramid A Into Higher Temperature Applications

BASF has developed Ultramid® A3W2G10, a 50% glass fiber reinforced material engineered to meet the requirements of cooler end caps and ducting in turbo charging systems. In keeping with market needs to provide high value products that reduce part cost, Ultramid A3W2G10 can endure a continuous temperature of 210°C, surpassing PA 66 typical long-term useful range of 140°C-150°C.

This grade can replace more expensive resins like polyphthalamide and polyamide 46, lowering the overall part cost. Even with 50% glass.
