Choosing the right mold release can be a daunting task. That's why our friends at Slide Products have developed a mold release wizard to help you find the right one. Dyna-Purge is announcing a new and improved engineering purging compound that has been designed for profile, sheet, blow, and cast film.
Also, we have two articles focussed on finding alternative plastics. One article from Solvay Advanced Polymers highlights replacing costly metals with PEEK, while the other article shows you how you can find offset plastics in less than 30 seconds!

How to Choose the Right Mold Release
Taking control of those “sticky” parts

|
Why do some parts just refuse to let go? Well, there are a couple of possibilities. It might be a
mechanical situation like an undercut. Or it might be chemical adhesion. The result is pretty
much the same. The part doesn't come out freely, “hangs up,” is damaged, deformed or has a
surface blemish.
Regardless, it impacts cycle times and cuts into your profitability. A mold release might be the
best option to keep stubborn parts in check.

New & Improved Engineered Purging Compound Designed for Profile, Sheet, Blown, & Cast Film

|
The Dyna-Purge® Division of Shuman Plastics, Inc. has introduced the company's latest technology breakthrough - new and improved Dyna-Purge® SF engineered purging compound for use in a broad range of extrusion applications, including profile, sheet, blown and cast film.
Dyna-Purge® SF is a non-abrasive, non-chemical "engineered" thermoplastic purging compound with a proprietary foaming agent, which allows the purge to expand and scrub the screw and barrel, die, and other downstream equipment. The material is designed for extruders and co-extruders that have limited clearances related to screenpacks, mixing or metering devices, etc., when processing profile, sheet, blown and cast film.

PEEK Replaces Costly Metals

|
With the recent start-up of Solvay’s 500 ton/year world-class production unit, Solvay Advanced Polymers now delivers KetaSpire® PEEK and AvaSpire® modified PEEK – two ultra polymers that can give design engineers best-in-class chemical resistance, retention of mechanical properties up to 300°C, plus ease of processing.
KetaSpire PEEK meets the global need for lighter, stronger and better performing alternatives to metals and ceramics. Design engineers can specify PEEK for use in automotive, oil & gas, healthcare, aerospace, semiconductor and various industrial friction and wear components.
KetaSpire and AvaSpire resins are part of Solvay’s complete family of Spire® Ultra Polymers.
