Impacting the Success of a New Plastics Design Program

There are several variables that impact the long-term success of a new program. Some of these variables include material, processing, tooling, and manufacturing. Any one of these may affect the manufacturing efficiency of the product that has a direct effect on profitability. Although there are many causes for production inefficiency, there seems to be one variable that stands out above all the rest. That variable is tooling.

Polycarbonate Resin & Blend Prices are raised by EUR 0.20/kg on September 1 for material delivered to Europe, Middle East, Africa and Latin America. The increase affects ‘Apec,’ ‘Bayblend,’ ‘Makroblend,’ and ‘Makrolon’ materials.
New ‘Biomax’ Additive Toughens PLA Biopolymer. This should be especially important for rigid packaging PLA applications such as thermoformed and injection-molded packaging trays.
