Webinars! Robust Processing for Injection Molding
April 7 & 9 at 2pm EDT | Presented by Suhas Kulkarni, FimmTech

Robust Processing for Injection Molding

The techniques of Scientific Molding and Design of Experiments (DOE) are commonly used for establishing processes in Injection Molding. Although completely different, the techniques are often confused and the sequence of performing these is always a question that has been asked several times. The first part of the two part series will introduce the two techniques and provide a flow chart for optimizing the molding process using these techniques.

The second part of the two part series will introduce the concept of Aesthetic and Dimensional Process Windows. Results from the Design of Experiments provide process parameters that will yield an acceptable process to meet the quality requirements. However, this process that yields dimensionally acceptable parts may not be robust, since it may be in a cosmetically unacceptable area with possibilities of defects such as short shots or flash. The talk will focus on this aspect of the process qualification process.

Webinar! RoHS II and REACH: The Impact on OEMs & Suppliers
March 27 at 12:00 pm EDT | Presented by Bijan Dastmalchi, Symphony Consulting

RoHS II and REACH: The Impact on OEMs and Suppliers

Do you know your obligations in relation to the EU's REACH Directive?
How will the proposed changes to the RoHS Directive (RoHS II) affect you?

This new directive has far reaching implications for OEMs and their suppliers not just in the electronics industry but across all industries. The documentation and reporting requirements are extensive for all companies that supply products into the EU. All OEMs that ship products to the EU - and their suppliers - will be impacted by REACH.

In this 90-minute webinar, Bijan Dastmalchi of Symphony Consulting will help you understand your obligations and how you can respond to them in a cost-effective manner. He will discuss how REACH and the proposed RoHS II directives impact you based on where your products are built, your product characteristics, and your role in the supply chain.

Accurately Estimating Capacity When Designing Plastic Gears

UTS Software

Certain parameters hold true when designing all gears, including plastic:

  • Use of conjugate tooth forms.
  • Maintaining contact ratios greater than 1.00.
  • Minimizing specific sliding, thus improving efficiency.
  • Minimizing tooth deflections.
  • Keeping working stresses below material strengths to insure adequate service live.

The Plastics Marketplace™

More and more molders, OEMs and suppliers use The Plastics Marketplace™ as a resource to sell secondary market resins. We get 500 visits to the marketplace every day (and it’s growing!). Today, we have more than 25 million pounds of resin listed for sale.

Did you know that you can receive an email that will alert you to the latest additions to the marketplace? It takes just seconds to sign up and best of all, it’s free!

You can also list materials that you have available. These resins can be prime, reprocessed, regrind, widespec or scrap. We have a number of suppliers and compounders of prime material that have had success in moving their inventory. It is fast, easy and also free of charge. Click here to see how to submit your materials.
