Limiting Oxygen Index - ASTM D2863The minimum concentration of oxygen that will just support flaming combustion in a flowing mixture of oxygen and nitrogen. A specimen is positioned vertically in a transparent test column and a mixture of oxygen and nitrogen is forced upward through the column. The specimen is ignited at the top. The oxygen concentration is adjusted until the specimen just supports combustion. The concentration reported is the volume percent.
