Apparent Density - ISO 60
The mass per unit volume of loose material. Also called Bulk Density. Provides a measure of the "fluffiness" of a material in its supplied form. Material is poured through a specified funnel into a cylinder of known volume. Excess material is scraped off the top of the cylinder with a straightedge and the cylinder is weighed. Apparent density is calculated as the mass of material divided by the volume of the cylinder.
