Prospector:Composites is a search engine for composite material datasheets.

Prospector:Composites is a first for the industry. Now, there is a single source of that hard-to-find test data on composite materials. Traditionally when a composites designer or analyst is developing a new project, they tend to use those few tried and true materials that have worked well in the past. Because Prospector:Composites has extensive data on materials with a wide cross section of matrix and filler types, an engineer can quickly find and evaluate materials that will do the job.

The database contains several hundred composites. The test data for these materials has been aggregated from a wide variety of sources including MIL-HDBK-17, AGATE, research papers and journal articles. Specifically, the information in the database includes:

• General property search functionality including fiber, matrix, supplier, forms, and data rating.
• Engineering specific search functionality:
  • Elastic constants: E₁₁, ν₁₂, G₁₂, etc.
  • Failure constants: S₁₁, S₂₂, etc.
  • Ability to search on data modifiers. An example would be for a user to find E₁₁ at a specific temperature and moisture condition
