Format: CD-ROM
The Plastics Design Guide presents information and data relevant to the industrial design of plastics products and components. The novel methodology directs designers’ attention to potentially critical issues in a prioritised fashion so that faults and failures can be minimised by rational material selection and product design. The program simulates the task of a specialised consultant at the initial interactive stages of a product development exercise. The Plastics Design Guide can be on hand 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to support you in making methodical design decisions.

Contents
The Plastics Design Guide is a selection of Rapra products and consists of three fully integrated sections: the topic base, activity modules and a toolkit.
There is a further option of adding a 4th section by subscribing to the Rapra Abstracts database of information, for an additional fee. This database is available as a CD or online via a password at www.polymerlibrary.com.
Topic Base
The topic base is an encyclopaedia of information about materials, properties, processes, testing and analysis.
Toolkit
Customise the system to incorporate and preserve valuable in-house information
Activity Modules
The activity modules are interactive programmes
-
CONVERT is a useful programme that converts hardness and other units
-
IR VIEWER provides a database of infrared spectra on all major polymer types in both thin film and pyrolisate forms
-
WINSNAP is a pre-design programme for snap-fit elements.
-
SENSAN is an interactive design programme aimed at avoiding common causes of failure. It asks a series of detailed questions related to service conditions, processing, etc., to take the user through the requirements for design. The novel methodology directs designers’ attention to potentially critical issues in a prioritised fashion so that faults and failures can be minimised by rational material selection and product design. The program simulates the task of a specialised consultant at the initial interactive stages of a product development exercise
