Recorded: July 7, 2009

A review of what's new in extrusion at the National Plastics Exhibition in Chicago, from June 22-26, 2009 presented by Allan L. Griff, Consulting Engineer.

Allan has been working with extruders since 1955, and since 1961 as an independent consultant and trainer. He wrote the first full-size book on extrusion in 1962, as well as the 'Plastics Extrusion Operating Manual,' constantly updated and now in its 18th edition.

During this webinar, Allan reports his findings and shares his opinions. The first half of this talk covers topics common to all extrusion:

  • Drive systems
  • Screws and barrels
  • Heating & cooling
  • Auxiliaries (such as screeners, mixers and gear pumps)

The second half covers developments for specific end products such as dies and downstream equipment. Allan shares pictures taken at the show and focuses on things that are practical and useful to today's industry.
